Paris the Emily way
Who said that Emily Cooper's glamorous, fun, and fashionable Paris was overrated, even idealized?
Although Emily sometimes has difficulty understanding Parisian culture, she quickly understood that the café is an essential part of it. It must be said that Emily has a good taste and a gift for finding the best addresses in the capital. She spends a lot of time with her friends, colleagues, clients, or her latest crush.
We bring you 5 proofs that it is possible to live the life of Emily in Paris with ease!
1) Emily's village: the Place de l'Estrapade
2) A picnic on the go between besties? The Palais-Royal!
3) A relaxed after-work at Café de Flore
4) The New Eve: Mindy's temple
5) A spectacular lunch at the Louvre? Café Marly!
Place de l'Estrapade or Emily's village!
On this charming and discreet square in the Latin Quarter, located at the top of the Sainte-Geneviève mountain, Emily lives at number 1, in a maid's room, on the 5e floor of a historic building built in 1776 (at the same time as the monumental neighboring Pantheon!). In the heart of the Latin Quarter, the Place de l'Estrapade quickly became her Parisian village. There she found everything she needed to live her fairy tale: love, friendship, a favorite restaurant, and a good bakery.
How could we not start with Les Deux Compères*, the restaurant of the charming and so sexy neighbor of the 4e floor, Gabriel? If it is for her, the place of temptation, Emily loves to invite her friends, colleagues, or customers to her favorite restaurant to celebrate professional success in all relaxation.
When she no longer knows how to survive in Paris's sentimental jungle, Emily meets Mindy at the Café de la Nouvelle Mairie, just across the street from Gabriel's restaurant. Sitting on the terrace, they listen to each other. Emily tells her love story while Mindy, her best friend, offers her valuable advice.
*In another life, this restaurant is called Terra Nera and offers a menu of Italian specialties in an atmosphere similar, if not identical, to that of the series.
A royal picnic between besties?
From her first day at Savoir, when none of her "charming" Parisian colleagues wanted to have lunch with her, Emily found comfort in the quiet of the Palais-Royal garden. A few steps from the Savoir offices, located on the Place de Valois, she met Mindy, who has since become her best friend. The young girl gives her the few tips that will make her a true Parisian.
The two besties have taken the habit of meeting there for lunch on the go. Sitting on a bench in front of the garden's fountain, they share their sandwich and the last gossip.
In the 18th century, one had to go to the Palais-Royal to get the latest rumors. Before becoming a sumptuous garden - somewhat sleepy! - it was the most popular place in the capital.
A relaxed after-work at Café de Flore!
If Emily lives a waking dream in Paris, all the days in the office are not rosy. In the evening, she sometimes needs to change her mind. In her moments of solitude, she can be found waiting for her destiny on the terrace of the most famous Parisian bars and cafés.
While sitting innocently on the terrace of the Café de Flore, she meets Thomas, a professor of semiology, which explains the historical and intellectual dimension of the Flore. Like them, Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre enjoyed sitting there and contemplating the world.
The New Eve: Mindy's temple!
The drag club that Emily frequents, La Nouvelle Eve, is a Parisian institution located at 25 rue Pierre Fontaine, a stone's throw from the Moulin Rouge, founded in 1898. It was here that the first nude revue of Paris was created in 1920.
Since Mindy's Chinese friends almost forced her to go back on stage, Emily likes to come to New Eve to encourage her friend. The parties are particularly festive in a Belle Epoque setting: fun and champagne for everyone!
A spectacular lunch in the heart of the Tuileries Gardens?
Emily quickly realized that in France, lunch break is a crucial moment in the life of a worker. So, there's no need to rush or deprive yourself! Whether for business or pleasure, Emily always has good addresses for lunch.
But why is this restaurant so close to the Louvre Pyramid? Is there a restaurant with a terrace overlooking the Tuileries garden and the Louvre courtyard, or was it specially imagined for the visit of Emily, Camille, and Sylvie? Well, yes, this restaurant exists, Café Marly! With undoubtedly the most beautiful view of the greatest European palace, the Café Marly has a unique location in Paris.
