Every evening, after sunset, the tower is illuminated with twinkling golden lights for five minutes every hour, making Gustave Eiffel's epic creation even more magical. It can be admired from the city's parks and streets.

ARTISTIC INSPIRATION IN PARIS

One of the most romantic spots in Paris is undoubtedly the Rodin Museum's iconic sculpture 'Le Baiser'. This statue, which shows two marble lovers embracing, illustrates the French flair for romanticism and is one of the most famous works by the artist Auguste Rodin. Located between the Musée du Louvre and the Place de la Concorde, it was created by Catherine de Médicis in the 16th century, but was redesigned in 1664 by King Louis XIV's gardener, André le Nôtre, in that formal French style. For a romantic park, the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont, to the north-east of the city, offers hilltop views, a spectacular temple, grottoes, waterfalls and an artificial lake.

THE ASTONISHING SAINTE-CHAPELLE

Romance can be spiritual in Paris, so take time to admire the magnificent stained glass windows in the Royal Chapel of Sainte-Chapelle, a Gothic gem on the Ile de la Cité. Consecrated in 1248, it is adored for its breathtaking stained glass windows, which soar above the space and are filled with dazzling colours, including a spectacular rose window. The fifteen windows are almost 15 metres high and depict religious scenes from the Old and New Testaments, but the appeal of this architectural gem is timeless.

VIEW OF PARIS FROM MONTMARTRE

Who needs drone photography when you can enjoy an incredible aerial view of Paris from Montmartre? The square in front of the iconic Sacré-Coeur Basilica, at the top of the Butte Montmartre steps, is a particularly good spot in this northern Paris 'village' to soak up the seductive city views that stretch out below you, before exploring the charming streets, windmills and cafés of the area.
